Outline
Carl Marx declared that 'religion is the opium of the people'. He saw it as something that cut people off from the real world. But Marx was wrong. It is the fabric of life that drugs people because people are in essence materialists.
There is a hunger in human beings that is deeper than physical hunger. The hunger of the soul. People think - If I only had this then I would be satisfied but people today have more and are no happier?
What is the solution to this emptiness?
Sermon outline -
1. The hunger which Jesus alone can meet.
2. The blessings which Jesus alone can give.
3. The invitation that Jesus alone can extend.
