Outline
We are dependent on light to find our way in the World. Jesus Christ is such a light and in this passage He is speaking in the Temple during the Feast of Booths. Jesus uses the occasion to make an extraordinary claim, 'I am the light of the world'.During this Feast of Booths Jesus has used the imagery of the Exodus in the wilderness to explain His teachings and how this time in O.T history pointed forward to Him. The Manna (Bread of Life), Water from the Rock (Rivers of Living Water) and Pillars of Cloud and Fire (Light of the World) were used to show Christ's preeminence in all of Scripture.
