Antrim
Over the past number of years the Northern Presbytery has pursued a church plant in the town of Antrim. There have been GO teams to distribute literature. Two blocks of 10 weekly meetings have been organised first in a community centre, then in the Civic Centre. These were advertised extensively in local newspapers. Significantly a prominent town centre building became available where Sabbath evening services were held during the winter 2007/2008. The presbytery plans to continue having Go Teams, and look to God to provide individuals and families so that a Reformed Presbyterian Church would be established in Antrim.
East Belfast
One hundred and fifteen thousand people live in that part of Belfast which lies east of the River Lagan and at present there is no Reformed Presbyterian witness in this whole area. The Eastern Presbytery, with the support of the Home Mission Section of the Mission Committee, is conscious of the great spiritual needs of the people, and is currently considering how to rectify this. An area centred on the Cregagh and Woodstock Roads with a population of nearly 40,000 has been identified which might be suitable to commence such work. Prayer meetings are being held in the Blythswood Centre, located on the Woodstock Road, to pray for the people in the area, and specifically that God will open a way for a Reformed Presbyterian work to commence if its His will. The vision, which the church has for East Belfast, is that people will come to faith in Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord and that an active, thriving Reformed Presbyterian witness will be established. To progress this work it is recognised that a full time worker is required. The committee overseeing the work is praying that they will be guided to the man of God's choice for this important post. Also for the work to develop core families will be essential. Individuals or families interested should contact Rev. Harry Coulter.
