There were numerous signs of how Peter fell and stumbled before this event of 'Transfiguration'.

He showed a declension in:
- Prayer
- Spiritual Power
- Hearing
- Discernment

Are we so different from these Apostles that we can scoff from afar at these events?

So how is the Transfiguration designed to deal with these specific failings of the Disciples? How is it to provide a focus, a means of understanding, for them going forward?

A Foretaste of Heaven

The Transfiguration was a brining of Heaven to Earth. The scene on the mountain top is straight from Heaven. How so?

- Presence of the Heavenly Father
- Presence of Distinctive Heavenly Glory
- Presence of Heavenly Saints
- Presence of Heavenly Conversation

An Answer to Prayer

Before the event of 'The Transfiguration', Jesus took off this small group of Disciples to pray on the mountainside.

It's worth noting that the Lord Jesus Christ did not ascend this mountain to transfigure, but simply ascended to pray. The transformation that followed was an answer to prayer.
