In the first three petitions we ask first for things for God before we move onto things for ourselves. We are commanded to pray for ourselves and others and what are we to pray for first? Our physical needs, not that they are more important but they are fundamental to allow us to get on with the more important things.

No sooner have we prayed for God's name to be hallowed than we go on to pray for God's kingdom to triumph and for satan's to be defeated. The reason that Christ came to earth was to tell people of His kingdom.
